Life Update (1/08)

Since my last blog entry (I can’t believe it has been three months) a lot has happened with me. I turned 35 (yes I feel old), I ran a conference for work (it went very well), I completed my Six Sigma training at a remote wilderness camp in Georgia (thankfully I was not attacked by bears or deranged mental hospital escapees) and I have reconnected with some dear friends who I had missed greatly(though it wasn’t under the best circumstances – R.I.P. Brian Walsh).

I survived my first holiday season with a child who was aware of what was going on. I totally overspent on Christmas this year (but I did so with a smile). I helped win a battle against a neighbor whose boyfriend insisted on parking his tractor trailer in our townhouse development, blighting the street while taking up every conceivable visitor parking space (the truck is gone but my block is now even less visitor friendly than before. I also believe this neighbor is running a meth lab, but I digress...). I found out that I will be eligible for full tuition reimbursement through work after May 30 (very exciting). I have been completely unmoved by anything having to do with the Presidential election (somewhat surprising). I have opted to instill in my son a fear of police reprisals for in-public spasms (I feel guilty about this but the rate of Z-man refusals to stay in strollers and/or car seats has dropped dramatically). I started a diet and lost ten pounds (I have found a couple of them since). I finally had a sit down with my boss during which he told me I was doing great and we mapped out our ’08 plan. My boss was shortly thereafter let go. I had a week and a half long stretch where I barely fought off a nervous breakdown. And finally I took my kid brother to see Cloverfield (Godzilla on crack, but in this instance both are good things).

I will be making an effort to write more. Sorry to everyone for dropping off the face of the Earth there for awhile.
